Utah has a flat 4.45% income tax for 2026. The standard deduction is $0 (single) / $0 (married filing jointly). Flat 4.45% on all taxable income for tax year 2026, reduced from 4.5% (2025) by SB60 (2026 session) - the 6th consecutive annual cut from 4.95% in 2021 (4.85% 2022, 4.65% 2023, 4.55% 2024, 4.5% 2025, 4.45% 2026). No local/city income taxes in Utah. NO state standard deduction and NO itemized deductions; instead Utah uses the Taxpayer Tax Credit (a nonrefundable credit equal to 6% of the sum of federal deductions plus Utah personal exemptions, phased out by 1.3% of state taxable income above a threshold - higher earners get $0). Personal exemption of about $2,046 per dependent. Utah taxes Social Security benefits but offers a Social Security Benefits Credit that fully offsets the tax below income thresholds (single ~$45k MAGI, MFJ ~$75k), phasing out above. Military retirement pay is exempt via a nonrefundable credit. Starting point is federal AGI.
